Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing Education will offer a course for individuals interested in becoming a medical billing and coding professional beginning Monday, March 12, and continuing through Wednesday, May 16.
Classes will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesday in Room 143 of WCU’s Cordelia Camp Building.
Medical billing and coding is considered to be one of the fastest-growing careers in the health care industry. The 80-hour course will cover topics such as solving insurance billing problems, manually filing claims, completing common insurance forms, tracing delinquent claims and others. After obtaining practical work experience, students who complete the course could be qualified to take national certification exams.
The course is offered in cooperation with Condensed Curriculum International Inc. and students must have obtained a high school diploma or GED. The cost is $1,799, including textbooks.
